About me

Welcome! I have been an elementary school teacher for 22 years. I started out teaching in parochial schools and then moved to public schools. I have taught in small towns as well as in the big city of Houston. One thing remains the same. I love to teach. I have experience teaching kindergarten through second grade and tried my hand at fourth grade this year. I hold an elementary degree certification, special education certification, ESL, my Master Reading Teacher certification, and a Masters in educational administration. I have four teenagers that keep me busy as well as an amazing husband and two dachshunds that keep me company when I have some down time. I look forward to using this blog to share my classroom and my life.

wow! Let's try this again.

Well, last year I moved to Houston and began teaching fourth grade. Wow. Read180 to fourth graders was a lot different. I learned a great deal. Especially from my experience teaching writing. Now I am (thankfully) going back to first grade. I LOVE first grade. The lower grades are where I feel at home.
I spent this past week getting my classroom ready. I have almost finished decorating my room and I am now putting the finishing touches on it. This year the school is going with a super hero theme. I found some cute things to do in my room. I can't wait though. I will try to post pics later. My room is not exciting. It is what is going to happen in it the rest of the year that will be awesome. I just can't wait for the kids to get there!!
